"A ‘Waterman’ knows the water does not care if you are in a wheelchair or not, wealthy or not…there is no winning or losing for a ‘Waterman’—only consequences.” -Kevin Horgan

WHO IS KEVIN HORGAN...
Born to a family of overachievers, Kevin Horgan came into this world on January 5, 1965. His stint as a newborn at Newport Hospital in Rhode Island was probably the longest time he ever stayed dry. A consummate "Waterman", he developed his healthy addiction to the ocean in and around Ruggles in Newport. It wasn't long before bigger, warmer waters beckoned. His thirst for waves took him overseas where he eventually landed with a splash in Japan. To fund his addiction to exotic waves, he became an institutional stock broker and went on to working and surfing all through Asia, Australia, Europe and finally, Hawaii, where he currently resides with his wife and little girl in Hanalei on the island of Kauai, breaking his time up between the waves of Hanalei and office time and travel throughout Asia and Australia.
Aside from surfing, Kevin loves snowboarding with his family and competes in ultra marathons from time to time, routinely running 60 plus mile races through mountainous regions.
To cure the summer doldrums on Kauai, Kevin took up Stand-up Paddle surfing. Combining his love for long-distance endurance sports and surfing, he began paddling farther and farther until he managed to paddle all 4 of the Hawaiian Island Channels culminating in a first-ever successful stand-up mission between Oahu and Kauai last summer.
Kevin adores his family and idolizes his big brother Harry. He has spent his life looking up to him. And completing the grueling 175-mile Waterman Challenge can hardly scratch the surface of accomplishments Harry has made for himself and countless others. But it is a great way to raise some money and raise a proverbial glass to a great cause and a great big brother.
